• Role Summary:As Software Engineer for GE Edison Cloud Datalake you are working in the team to build the next generation solution for onboarding customers ingesting clinical data and extracting meta data for non-conventional objects like clinical images based on the direction from Senior Team members or management. You will learn about the technology stack and contribute towards the technology roadmap.Essential Responsibilities:In this role you will: Learn to ingest data from various sources and measure the performance Work as team to create custom indexers to extract metadata from non-native sources like clinical images. Adopts the design provided by the seniors to build standardized APIs and infrastructure Learn to analyze and solve low to medium complexity problems that arises from internal testing and customer findings Participates in technical design reviews and code reviews. Follows the SDLC process like code review unit testing and documentation to ensure quality of your deliverables Understands core data structures and algorithms and has the ability to implement them using python or java. Is eager to pair and learn. Understands the importance of test-driven development and high-quality output. Skilled in breaking down problems documenting problem statements and estimating efforts. Creates knowledgebase of your work and organize knowledge sharing session to ensure learning for the team Ability to take ownership of small and medium sized tasks and seek support wherever required.Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science Technology Engineering and Math) A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Software Development OR Masters degree with 2 years of experience Technical expertise in Python and Java. Experiential understanding of technologies like AWS cloud and big data analytics Strong understanding of functional and nonfunctional requirements Excellent analytical interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimum or no guidanceDesired Characteristics:Technical Expertise: Knowledge of at least one Python web framework. Familiarity with implementing cloud solutions with Python Strong debugging and unit testing skills using a well-known and accepted unit testing framework Proficient understanding of code versioning tools and CI/CT/CD processes Strong analytical and problem solving skills communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions Experience with Healthcare domain and Medical Imaging is a PLUS.Business Acumen: Have a good understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application Has the ability to make basic technology comparison and decisions based on pros and cons Has read about competing technologies in the cloud space Demonstrates awareness about the different players in the cloud spaceLeadership: Has the ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary Voices opinions and presents clear rationale. Uses data or factual evidence to influence decisions Recognizes collaborative behavior and participates in collaborative activities Learns organization vision statement and decision-making framework.
