Storage L3 Engineer - EMC

Job Description

• - Requirement for Storage L3 Engineers specialization in at least two EMC Storage products and Linux knowledge preferable, , - Resolving incoming trouble tickets. Tickets are communicated through and resolved in Jira or through direct walk up
• , - Respond and resolve tickets related to storage, hardware and database issues
• , - Escalate to next level for assistance, if the issue is not resolved by storage Engineer. Escalation would be to a L3 storage Engineer
• , - Support services will be provided from 24X7, On-call Rotation, , - Respond and resolve ad hoc tickets submitted by for auditing, proactive health checks, etc
• , Respond and resolve tickets for:, , - Hardware support - Work with storage device hardware replacements as per Run books provided by team
• , - Storage Provision - Provisioning SAN or NAS storage to existing or new hosts
• , - Storage Migration - Migrate data from one storage device to other device
• , - Operating systems support - Work with issues related to storage operating system
• , - Event support - In case of engagement from NOC, customer, SRE during outage or planned maintenance
• , - Storage vendor communication and coordination for hardware or software tasks
• , Training - Induction, new products, refreshers, learn
• , Overview of Storage Infrastructure: -, , - Vplex/Vmax/ ISILON/ Netapp/ XtreamIO/ PureStorage, , - AVAMAR/Data Domain/Protect Tier (Backup infra), , - Total PBs supported is approx. 15PB (NAS)/13PB (SAN), , - Vmax/Vplex/ ISILON is used to serve most of their applications such as Oracle DBs and terradata
• , - CISCO MDS Switches only, , - NAS is Mainly used for Teradata through and through the NFS protocol
• , - FC and iscsi is used for SAN provision
• , - 2TB is the minimum best practices allocation is set by engineering team, , - HLD and LLD to be shared at the time of final transition
• , - All Hardware have premium support
• , DBs Overview: -, , - Oracle /Teradata/ Pinot (Main DBs), , - MySQL / CouchBase/ Venice/Voldemort/ Pambry (Has presence in environment), , - Expresso developed as own DB customized
• , Backup and Replication :, , - Oracle Golden Gate is used for application level replication and backup
• , - Netapp CDOT NFS is used as destination
• , Backup retention is 1 day with no archival for any of their application. ,
